We offer architectural and interior design services. We have been involved with the design and execution of diverse kinds of projects - ranging from private residences and housing to adaptive reuse and office interiors. We are based in Ahmedabad with most of our projects located in and around the city.
In our practice, we seek and encourage a collaborative approach, with a focus on building places that feel alive and nourish life. Emphasis is given to a design process that develops from the specific conditions of a project, the character of the site and particularities of the client brief - along with an understanding of appropriate materials and building techniques. As part of this process, careful attention is paid to every aspect of design and detailing, while actively engaging with on-site execution.
We believe in an integrated design attitude that seeks to connect architecture, landscape and interior design in a holistic way. We like to work closely with our consultants - particularly for landscape and structure design in architectural projects, and with our agencies for interior related work. We like the challenges and enjoy the process of designing and building different kinds of projects looking at each one as a learning opportunity.
XPDS architects was co-founded by Darshan and Puneet. They received their architectural education at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, between 1995 & 2002. Darshan started practicing independently by 2003, while Puneet worked with architect Girish Karnawat in Mumbai & Goa from 2003 to 2005. They were part of ‘Studio11 Architects’ - a collaborative firm which they set up in 2006 along with five other batch-mates, before founding XPDS in 2013.
DARSHAN SARAIYA seeks to share experiences, knowledge and responsibilities with his design team. He combines a thorough knowledge of building systems with a perceptive design approach, which helps in developing innovative and unconventional solutions. He is also a film buff and an aficionado of global cinema.
PUNEET MEHROTRA seeks a design process that is rooted in a sensitive response to the living character of places. He believes in the need to combine an exploratory design attitude with a deeper engagement with building techniques. He is also a visiting faculty at CEPT University and enjoys making photographs.
